Who we are ...

Channel Sailing Club was formed nearly 40 years ago, from adult education navigation classes, to encourage sailing enthusiasts to add practical skills to the theory of navigation and seamanship. Hundreds of members have gained practical skills and the confidence to either skipper their own boat, to charter or to act as crew for others.

Members can draw on the extensive knowledge of others in a friendly, sociable atmosphere and at a very reasonable cost.

We welcome all abilities from novices to experienced boat owners.  With a strong emphasis on training, Members are encouraged to take part in the accredited courses we run.

What we do ...

We have about 200 Members with approximately 50 owning boats ranging from 18 to over 40 feet in length.

We organize a whole host of events throughout the year covering a wide range of activities from Solent rallies, to longer cruises across the Channel and the West Country as well as racing weekends.

Members meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at the Ashtead Cricket Clubhouse in Ashtead to socialise over a drink, organise the next trip and generally chat about their last voyage.

In addition, we run a number of other shore-based activities including themed food evening, quizzes and games nights, talks and educational lectures on sailing or related topics.
