The May 4-day Cruise will this year be to Cherbourg with the very popular lunch and wine-tasting at Philippe Dubegny's Cave L'Enchanterie on the Saturday.

This has been a very popular event when done in the past.

HW Portsmouth on Saturday: 0731 BST

Cut off date for applications:
Saturday 20th April

Organiser: Calvin Evans

The itinerary will be as follows:

Thursday evening through to Saturday morning, boats should make their way across to Cherbourg's Chantereyne Marina where berths (with club discount) will be reserved for you on Saturday night (and Friday and Sunday night also if skippers let me have their passage plans). So you can sail to Cherbourg directly or via another port as you wish.
The intention is that we will stay in Cherbourg on Saturday night. Boats may then decide to return back across Channel either overnight Sunday or on Monday and may, if they wish make a short passage to St Vaast or Alderney if they choose (and the weather agrees!) before heading home.

The cost of the lunch and wine tasting (subject to confirmation) will be around €30 euros per person and will include – An aperitif on arrival, oysters for the starter course with a Charcuterie option for anyone who does not eat shell fish. The oysters are superb coming from Fermanville near St Vaast. Then the main course will be Spit roast local lamb followed by a cheese course. The dessert will be strawberry tart with crème anglais.
A selection of wines is also included so everyone can taste a number of red and white wines as well as some sparkling wines from France.
A discount will be offered on all wines then bought at the Cave (cases can easily be put on board the coach for the return trip back to port).

Which assumes that we'll have a coach!
I can organise a suitable coach for up to 54 people dependent on the numbers who sign up for the event. The cost of this will be in addition to the meal and wine tasting and could be anything from as little as €6 euros each dependent on numbers. If there are not sufficient entries to the event to warrant a coach, I intend to organise 'people carrier' sized taxis to take individual boat crews to the lunch.

So in order to plan this event successfully, it is essential that I have accurate commitments (with a non-refundable deposit closer to the time of the event) by NO LATER THAN Saturday 20th April. Obviously, if the weather prevents this trip, then we will of course cancel and aim refund deposits provided we can give Philippe Dubegny some notice.
