The Quizagation Challenge combines a game of buoy-hopping (passing within 15 metres or 2 boat lengths) around the Solent, where buoys mean points, and the most buoys means a prize. The skill includes planning tide, time, wind and choice of buoys. There is also a prize for winning a nautical quiz question paper. Engine use is restricted to navigational safety and any engine use must be logged and declared.
The Rally will finish at Hornet Sailing Club at Gosport. Skippers may start the Rally at any position in the Solent (which is loosely defined as anywhere between Chichester Harbour and Christchurch). The start time will be 1100 BST and the finish time will be at 1600 BST within 50 yards of the museum submarine HMS Alliance at Hornet.
There will be a “Jetty Party” on pontoon no.1 alongside Lonk Avel at 1830 BST
Dinner will be organised at Hornet Sailing Club for a maximum of 30 diners.
On the Sunday there will be a group visit to the Submarine Alliance at c. 1030 BST. £10 (or £8 for oldies!) We will have a guide.
The following items will be provided to Skippers prior to the start of the Rally:-
1. Sailing Instructions.
2. The Quiz sheet and answer paper.
3. The Buoys list and declaration sheet.
Please Note: There is a limit on the total numbers who can come to the meal of 30 people.
